Gain Saturation as a function of Pump Parameters in Fiber Raman Amplifiers
نویسندگان
چکیده
We have investigated the Raman gain for different pump wavelengths and maximum gain is achieved for pump wavelength of 1451.2 nm for the input signal source at 1550 nm. Also the effect of both pump power and Raman fiber length on gain saturation in fiber Raman amplifiers(FRAs) was studied without using any booster before Raman fiber. We have numerically simulated the gain of a FRA for different Raman fiber lengths by varying pump powers. Saturation of the gain is observed to occur for input powers exceeding 10 dBm in an amplifier with small signal gain of 13.73 dB at pump power of 1.5 W and Raman fiber length of 12.5 km. Output powers of up to 2.14 W with pump to signal conversion efficiency of 71 % are demonstrated. Key-Words: FRA, Raman, WDM, pump, gain, fiber

Impact of Input Pump Profile on the Gain Spectrum and the Saturation Behavior of One-Pump Fiber Optical Parametric Amplifiers
In this article, the impact of input pump profile on the gain spectrum as well as the saturation behavior of one-pump fiber optical parametric amplifiers (FOPAs) is investigated. Since in practical circumstances, pump sources used for FOPAs have Lorentz-Gaussian profile instead of Gaussian, a more realistic case is considered for simulating FOPAs in this article. The results of simulations for ...
متن کاملImpact of Fourth-Order Dispersion Coefficient on the Gain Spectrum and the Saturation Behavior of One-Pump Fiber Optical Parametric Amplifiers
In this paper, the gain spectrum and the saturation behavior of one-pump fiber optical parametric amplifiers (1-P FOPAs) are investigated by taking into account the fourth-order dispersion coefficient b4 in the analysis. The results show that it is necessary to consider b4 in the analysis when the wavelength difference between the signal and pump waves is large enough and/or whenever the pump w...

In this paper, by including Raman scattering in the coupled-mode equations, the scalar modulation instability in photonic crystal fibers is investigated. The evolution of the pump, Stokes and anti-Stokes waves along the fiber as well as the conversion efficiency for two cases, with and without Raman effect, are studied. The effect of anti-Stokes seed and the pump depletion on the evolution of S...

Raman amplification of a 49 cm Bismuth oxide (Bi2O3) as a nonlinear gainmedium based erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is reported in new and compactdesign in near infrared spectral regions. The bismuth glass host provides theopportunity to be doped heavily with erbium ions to allow a compact optical gain fiberamplifier design by using reduced fiber length and the 1480...
متن کاملAn Approach to Flatten the Gain of Fiber Raman Amplifiers with Multi-Pumping
The effects of the pumping wavelength and their power on the gain flattening of a fiber Raman amplifier (FRA) are investigated. The multi-wavelength pumping scheme is utilized to achieve gain flatness in FRA. It is proposed that gain flatness becomes better with increase in number of pumping wavelengths applied. We have achieved flat gain with 0.27 dB fluctuation in a spectral range of 1475-160...
